Steam cleaning, also known as hot water extraction, works by injecting very hot water into carpet under high pressure and extracting the water out again to achieve a thorough clean. This method has a great flushing capability that removes dirt, bacteria, fungus, dust mites and allergens, from the carpet fiber achieving the deepest clean possible. Steam cleaning is great for heavily soiled carpets or for carpets that have not had a clean for a long time. Steam cleaning is a more thorough clean and is the preferred cleaning method for most carpet manufactures. It can however take a bit longer to dry. Factors that can influence drying times are: air temperature, humidity, airflow, and the amount of water used when cleaning.
Low Moisture Cleaning, also known as bonnet cleaning or encapsulation is achieved by pre-spraying the carpet with a solution that encapsulates dirt from the carpet fiber. A rotary machine with a pad or ‘bonnet’ is then used to scrub the carpet clean. The dirt and bacteria move directly onto the pads or become encapsulated in crystals formed as the cleaning solution dries. These encapsulated crystals are not visible and future vacuuming will clean your carpets further. Low moisture cleaning is a good choice if the carpet is required immediately after cleaning or a light maintenance clean is required. In our experience some short pile carpets can come up looking better using the dry cleaning method.
